Christian Music Top 40, 6.20.21: tobyMac finally overtakes Crowder, claims No. 1 spot

After eight weeks in the Top 5 and three weeks locked at No. 2, tobyMac’s “Help Is On the Way (Maybe Midnight)” finally crept up one spot and became this year’s sixth No. 1 single. Crowder’s “Good God Almighty” only drifted down one and landed at No.2. “Amen” by For KING and Country remained at No. 3, “Hold On to Me” by Lauren Daigle moved up to No. 4 and We the Kingdom’s “Child of Love” advanced to No. 5.

This week’s chart was perhaps the year’s most unmoving thus far, as 15 of last week’s Top 40 remained in the same spot this week, and another nine songs moved up or down only one place. While only three songs made significant moves up the chart, the week’s biggest mover was Stephen Stanley’s “No Hopeless Soul,” which fell 14 places to No. 40. The only three songs to move up four or more spots were Phil Wickham’s “House of the Lord” (up four from No. 34 to No. 30), Aaron Cole’s “Like You” (up eight from No. 40 to No. 32) and Nonah’s “Jump” (up four from No. 37 to No. 33).

There was one debut and one re-entry this week. Casting Crowns’ “Scars in Heaven” jumped on to the chart at No. 34, while Maverick City Music’s “Move Your Heart” re-entered at No. 38 after one week away. One song not on the chart marked an unusual milestone – Sean Curran’s “Ways,” which has now been on the “Side Burner” chart for 11 weeks – more than any other song this year.

Here is the updated chart for the week of June 20, 2021. Each song is linked to its official video on YouTube, where possible. To listen to the full playlist of these songs, visit our page on Spotify.
