With very little movement at the top of the Christian chart, Phil Wickham’s “Battle Belongs” held on to No. 1 for the sixth week in a row. As Jeremy Camp’s “Out of My Hands” lost ground (dropping to No. 4), the biggest challenge came from Crowder’s “Good God Almighty,” climbed in the No. 2 slot. Rounding out the Top 5 were Zach Williams (“Less Like Me,” No. 3) and MercyMe (“Say I Won’t,” No. 5).
One of the week’s big developments is the recent surge of fresh songs into the Top 10. Three former No. 1 songs – “Jericho” by Andrew Ripp (No. 11), “Graves Into Gardens” by Elevation Worship (No. 19) and “Truth Be Told” by Matthew West (No. 20) – have slipped outside of the Top 10. For most of the year, the Top 10 was dominated by songs that had been their since the beginning of January. As of this week, half of the Top 10 arrived there within the last five weeks. Even so, 11 of the Top 20 has been on the charts for at least 13 weeks.
For a third straight week, there were only a handful of major movers on the chart. Jordan St. Cyr surged into the Top 10 with “Fires,” advancing four spots to No. 8. Rhett Walker’s “Gospel Song” jumped five spots, carrying him into the Top 20 at No. 16. The other two big movers were Hope Darst’s “Promise Keeper” (up six spots to No. 25) and Needtobreathe’s “Survival” (up five spots to No. 29).
Two songs debuted this week, and another re-entered after a short layoff. “Keep On Hoping” by Riley Clemmons was the top debut at No. 31, and Big Daddy Weave entered the chart at No. 34 with “All Things New.” Social Club Misfits re-appeared at No. 39 with “Without You.” The song had last appeared at No. 37 three weeks ago after a peak at No. 31.
