Finding Peace in the Everyday Moments

Peace isn’t always about escaping the chaos of life; sometimes, it’s about finding quiet moments within it. For me, peace can be found in the soft glow of the morning sun as I sip my coffee, or in the moments when the world slows down, and I’m reminded of the simple joys—family, faith, and the comforting rhythm of everyday life.

Daryl, moments after we said ‘I do’ at the courthouse on August 10, 2015—ten years ago this week.

Just two days ago, on August 10, Daryl and I celebrated our 10th anniversary of making it official at the courthouse. Though we were married in a church on October 10, 2015, this day always feels like the true beginning of our journey together. It’s a reminder of how far we’ve come and how much we’ve grown, together.

I find peace in spending time with Daryl and our family, especially as I get to watch my grandson, Sully, discover the world around him. It’s a gentle reminder of life’s preciousness. I also find it in my work—whether I’m teaching my students or reflecting on my own writing, the act of creating and sharing brings a sense of calm.

But for me, it’s also in the small, unnoticed moments—the stillness at the end of the day when everything comes full circle.

What about you? What brings you peace, whether it’s a quiet walk, a good book, or just time to breathe?
