Nothing touches my heart more than seeing someone who has an uncanny ability to be kind to people, even when the situation makes kindness difficult. My mother was especially good at this, and I’ve always wished I was more like her in this regard. I think that’s one of the things that made me fall in love with my wife — her compassion toward me and toward others.
Unconditional love isn’t necessarily easy, but it is something our Lord commands us to do, I think because that’s how He acts toward us. When we show love and kindness to others we become more like Him, and that’s a worthy goal.
