I can’t imagine not having a computer. First of all, what I’m doing at this very moment goes away. So does everything else I do that matters. Writing my reflections. Writing a book. Teaching my students. And that’s before we get to anything enjoyable, like watching a movie, reading the news or listening to music.
Like it or not, computers have become almost as indispensable to us as the car, the phone or the oven. We’ve become so dependent on them that if they were to go away, we’d feel as if we’d been thrown into the stone age. God help us if that day ever comes.
