A week ago, Olivia Rodrigo’s splash on the chart both supplanted J. Cole’s massive surge the week before and threatened Dua Lipa’s hold on the No. 1 spot. This week, Rodrigo’s strength kept 10 of the 11 songs from her album on the chart, but failed to move any of her tunes to the top. Dua Lipa’s “Levitating” only got stronger this week, as the song stayed No. 1 in for the third consecutive week. Doja Cat’s “Kiss Me More” jumped to the No. 2 slot, while Rodrigo’s “good 4 u” rocketed into the No. 3 spot. “Save Your Tears” by The Weeknd amazingly has not lost much ground and stayed in the Top 5 at No. 4, and Justin Bieber’s “Peaches” sagged to No. 5.
The second week slump proved true for Rodrigo’s Sour album, but not to the same extent as it did for J. Cole’s Off-Season a week ago. While eight of Rodrigo’s tracks lost ground from their June 6 ranking, the drop wasn’t enough to take most of them off of the chart. Only “hope u r ok” dropped from the rankings, while the other 10 stayed in the Top 40. The only two to gain ground were “good 4 u” (up four spots) and “favorite crime,” which moved ahead three places.
Other than “good 4 u,” six other songs made significant leaps of four or more places: “Heat Waves” by Glass Animals (up nine from No. 24 to No. 15), “Forever After All” by Luke Combs (up eight from No. 29 to No. 21), “pov” by Ariana Grande (up eight from No. 30 to No. 22), “Telepatia” by Kali Uchis (up 11 from No. 36 to No. 25), “Every Chance I Get” by DJ Khaled (up four from No. 32 to No. 28) and “Your Power” by Billie Eilish (up seven from No. 37 to No. 30).
Five songs made their debuts this week, including two by Lil Baby and Lil Durk, who also placed eight songs onto our “Side Burner” chart. The new five are “Yonaguni” by Bad Bunny (No. 27), “Hats Off” (No. 31) and “Voice of the Heroes” (No. 35), both by Lil Baby and Lil Durk, “Late at Night” by Roddy Ricch (No. 37) and “You” by Regard, Troye Sivan and Tate McRae.
There were two significant exits from the chart – “Positions” by Ariana Grande (22 weeks on the chart, peak of No. 2) and “My Ex’s Best Friend” by Machine Gun Kelly and Blackbeard (20 weeks on the chart, peak of No. 17).
