Phil Wickham’s hold on the top spot in Christian music grew even stronger this week “Battle Belongs” remains at No. 1 for a fifth consecutive week. The song was at the top of almost every metric we use in our methodology and rates at more than 97 percent in its popularity index. The closest contender is still Jeremy Camp’s “Out of My Hands,” which is entrenched at No. 2, followed by Crowder’s “Good God Almighty,” Zach Williams’s “Less Like Me” and MercyMe’s “Say I Won’t,” which round out the Top 5 in order for the second week in a row.
Another trend for the second straight week was the lack of big movers on the chart. Eight songs stayed in the same spot as last week, and another 17 moved only one spot up or down. Only four songs jumped four or more places: “Help is On the Way (Maybe Midnight)” by tobyMac (up four from No. 10 to No. 6), “Gospel Song” by Rhett Walker (up four from No. 25 to No. 21), “Believe for It” by CeCe Winans (up nine from No. 34 to No. 25) and “Faithful God” by I AM THEY (up four from No. 33 to No. 29).
Only one song debuted this week, and it seems to have the potential to make its way toward the Top 10 rapidly. “Jireh,” a collaboration between Elevation Worship and Maverick City Music, made its first appearance at No. 32, but its traction in certain matrices seems to indicate it will gain strength in the next few weeks. Two other songs re-entered the chart – “Help Is On the Way” by Unspoken (No. 34) and “I Need a Ghost” by Brandon Lake (No. 39). Both had fallen off the chart for one week.
