From the Classroom to the Bourbon Trail

Tuesday’s question is, “Was today typical?”

Absolutely not. Not even for a pre-planning, end-of-summer day.

On the surface, it might look typical enough. As you’re reading this, I’m in the middle of my school’s orientation, meeting my future 8th-grade students and putting the finishing touches on my classroom before the year officially kicks off next week.

But tonight is where things get interesting. I’m hopping on a flight to Nashville to meet up with my best friend, Scott, and from there we’re hitting the road to Kentucky for a full-on Bourbon Trail adventure.

No day this week will be typical. We’ll be touring distilleries, soaking in the history, and (of course) tasting some sweet Kentucky bourbon. It’s the perfect last grand adventure before the school year officially begins. By the time I get home in the wee hours of Monday morning, it’ll be all “school mode” for the next ten months.

Here’s to the last blast of summer!

What’s one fun thing you’re doing before the season officially changes?
