Master of your destiny. Or are you?

Daily writing prompt
Do you believe in fate/destiny?

Honestly, the idea of fate is pretty complicated. As a Christian, fate doesn’t line up with my faith because I know that my future is not predetermined. There is some concept of destiny, but that’s more about God’s plan for our lives instead of a script that we’re given to follow.

To put it simply, we have a Father who is like a loving parent who wants the very best for us. He has an incredible plan for each of us, but he also gives us the freedom to make our own choices and write our own stories. Hopefully, the choices we make line up with his plans, but many times we make decisions that take us down a different path. Even when we do that, He’s there, offering us His grace and mercy and giving us a chance to get back on track.

So, destiny? No. But a plan? Absolutely. It’s just up to us whether we choose to follow it or not.

  1. The phrase “well said” is a bit overused, but thank you for articulating this! It’s about God’s gift free will.
