Be honest with yourself – we all need a break from something. Laundry, our jobs, the dread that creeps in at around 3 p.m. every Tuesday. But more than anything, the thing that tends to drive me crazy more than anything else is … stupidity.
OK, so I know I tend to be kind and understanding, and this seems like anything but that. But I’m not talking about people who struggle with math or can’t spell “onomatopoeia.” (Spell check that one – that IS the correct spelling.) Everyone has their blind spots, so this isn’t that. I’m talking about the willful, the deliberate and almost weaponized stupidity that seems to penetrate every corner of life these days.
This is the kind of stupidity that makes you question the future of humanity. It’s the kind that makes you want to scream into a pillow or consider moving to a secluded island where your only company is a volleyball named Wilson. It’s the kind that makes you realize that sometimes you’re looking in the wrong places for the wrong information that gets in the way of your enjoyment of the simple pleasures in life.
So, yes, I need a break. Hopefully a permanent one. From the constant barrage of nonsense that we see in the news. From stupid statements, outrageous outfits, dumb decisions and inane imbeciles.
Is anyone with me on this or am I losing it? Let me know in the comments. (Unless you’re planning on being stupid. Then please, for the love of all that is holy, just keep scrolling.)
Very well written !!
