USA Top 40, 1.16.21: The choice for No. 1 is ‘Easy’ for an 8th week

Midway through January, Adele is still unchallenged at the top of the pop music chart. Her latest single, “Easy On Me,” easily held on to No. 1 for the eighth consecutive week, with her closest challenger the previous No. 1 song — “Stay” by The Kid Laroi and Justin Bieber. The remainder of the Top 5 was also unchanged — Glass Animals’ “Heat Waves,” “Industry Baby” by Lil Nas X and Jack Harlow, and “Shivers” by Ed Sheeran at No. 3, 4 and 5 respectively.

Christmas finally left the chart, as 20 holiday-themed songs exited the chart. In their place are eight new chart entries and 12 re-entries, including two songs from the animated hit movie, “Encanto”: “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” (No. 9) and “Surface Pressure” (No. 12).

Here is the updated chart for the week of January 16, 2022. Each song is linked to its official video on YouTube, where possible. To listen to the full playlist of these songs, visit our page on Spotify.
