Bowl Prediction: Miami Beach Bowl, Central Michigan vs. Tulsa

There aren’t many bowl games this year that stand out immediately as one-sided blowouts. In fact, among the first five bowls, none of the point spreads exceeded 10 points, and even though two games went lopsided, all of them were expected to be fairly close. Not so in this case. Central Michigan limps into Miami Beach with a 6-6 record in the MAC – one of the weakest conferences in the nation. And while QB Cooper Rush has the potential to make this game very interesting, his offensive line might make it very interesting for him by allowing Tulsa to rough him up regularly. (That unit has allowed 34 sacks this season.) Tulsa is as good on offense as any team you’ll see in the postseason. The Golden Hurricane can run, pass and score almost at will. With playmakers at every offensive position, it would be a minor miracle if Tulsa stayed south of 35 points, and it’s more likely that they won’t stay south of 45. While the Tulsa defense isn’t just suspect – it’s pretty bad – it’s offense is more than good enough to roll up a barrel-full of points and run away from the Chippewas.
Prediction: Tulsa 48, Central Michigan 28
