Quick Thought – Tuesday, May 19, 2026: The Bigger Deal
Stella had been wrong. Her words had been cruel. But when she needed her father, he came home anyway. That kind of love points us toward an even greater love: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Continue reading

Quick Thought – Sunday, May 10, 2026 (Mother’s Day): Thank God for Mothers
Moses’s mother gave up her son to save his life, trusting God with what she could no longer hold. Her sacrifice reminds us of the countless ways good mothers set aside pieces of themselves so their children can grow, thrive, and follow the Lord. Continue reading

Quick Thought – Wednesday, March 18, 2026: The Betrayal of a Friend
Sometimes betrayal does not begin with malice. Sometimes it begins with wanting acceptance badly enough that we forget what loyalty costs. A childhood memory of failing a friend still echoes for me whenever I read about Judas approaching Jesus with a kiss. Continue reading

Quick Thought – Sunday, February 26, 2023: Act Like Children (First Sunday in Lent)
Read Matthew 18:1-6 Matthew 19:13-15 Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 18:4 Reflect I love working with children. For a while, I worked as a substitute teacher, and I worked with … Continue reading

Florida Wildlife: The Two-Legged Kind
When WordPress asked, “Do you ever see wild animals?” I don’t think it meant the ones I see most often — the aggressive driver who cut across I-95 at a 45-degree angle, the megaphone-loud panhandler at the gas station, or the herd of middle schoolers trumpeting at each other like 200 excited elephants at lunchtime. Real wildlife? Not so much. The wilderness is quiet… and honestly, that sounds pretty nice. Continue reading

The Hardest Decision I Ever Made
Some decisions aren’t hard because they’re wrong; they’re hard because doing the right thing asks more of you than you think you can give. Continue reading

No Rewinds, Just Right Now
If I could re-live any part of my life, it wouldn’t be a whole year — just a single fall season in 1990 when Daryl and I first became friends. Sometimes I wonder what might have happened if we had ended up together back then. But changing that story would erase the people I love now, and I wouldn’t trade them — or this life — for anything. Continue reading

Quick Thought – Thursday, October 30, 2025– Lessons From Mom: Enjoy the Special Moments
This is the fourth of 25 special reflections based on lessons I learned from my mother. These will run from my birthday on October 27 until her birthday on November 20. Read 1 Peter 5:1-11 Give all your worries and … Continue reading

The Joy We Forget: Being a Kid at Heart
Watching my grand-nephews, grand-nieces, and especially Sully reminds me what pure joy looks like—play without self-consciousness, laughter without restraint. Somewhere along the way, we trade that freedom for composure, and maybe it’s time we remembered how to play again. Continue reading

Quick Thought – Sunday, September 21, 2025: Don’t Leave Room for Sin
Read Philippians 4:10-20 Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. Philippians 4:11 Reflect America has had its share of sad stories, but few are as sadly tragic … Continue reading
