The year’s third COVID bowl victim is the Fenway Bowl, which was supposed to kick off its inaugural appearance last year. Now it’s 0-2 against the dreaded virus, which apparently ran roughshod through Virginia’s football team. Had the game gone forward, you would have heard me talk about two teams that folded like cheap suits down the stretch, and that SMU looked slightly stronger heading into this game. They did look stronger until two of their top receivers decided to sit out the bowl game in preparation for the NFL draft. That would have tipped the balance in favor of the Cavaliers in a contest that would have had a score similar to a low-scoring basketball game. My pick would have been…
