Christian Music Top 40, 9.5.21: ‘My Jesus’ continues to soar at No. 1

As the Christian chart starts to undergo a changing of the guard, the top of the chart was unchanged for a fourth straight week. Anne Wilson’s “My Jesus” maintained it’s close-to-perfect score and again was clearly the most popular song in the country. Still hovering in the 99 percent range on our algorithm, “My Jesus” is now establishing itself as one of the top songs of 2021. It was followed on the countdown by Elevation Worship’s “Rattle!” which surged one spot to No. 2. “Be Alright” by Evan Craft, Danny Gokey & Redimi2 also gained one place and landed at No. 3. CAIN’s “Yes He Can,” slipped two spots to No. 4, and Rhett Walker’s “Gospel Song” held steady at No. 5.

“Help is On the Way (Maybe Midnight)” by tobyMac tumbled to No. 19 from No. 6, marking the first time it had been outside of the Top 10 since March 27. Meanwhile, two of the chart’s longtime residents made their exit this week. Crowder’s “Good God Almighty,” which is a strong candidate for Song of the Year, left the chart after 33 weeks. It had been on the chart since we started tracking on January 16. “Good God Almighty” spent 17 of those weeks in the Top 5, and six weeks at No. 1 — the second-most of any song this year (behind only Phil Wickham’s “The Battle Belongs”). Also slipping from the chart was “Child of Love” by We the Kingdom. The song debuted on the chart on February 27 and stayed for the next 27 weeks, peaking at No. 3.
