Christian Music Top 40, 8.8.21: CAIN, ‘Yes He Can’ hold steady at the top

As several songs surge toward the top, CAIN’s “Yes He Can” stayed resilient and finished the week at No. 1 for the second time in a row. Anne Wilson’s “My Jesus” could well be the next No. 1 song, but fell just short at No. 2. “Help is On the Way (Maybe Midnight)” by tobyMac slipped another spot to No. 3, and Rhett Walker’s “Gospel Song” ebbed to No. 4. “Be Alright” by Evan Craft, Danny Gokey & Redimi2 surged two spots to round out the Top 5.

“Hold On to Me” by Lauren Daigle dropped 10 spots and fell out of both the Top 5 and the Top 10, where she had been since June 13 and April 10 respectively.  Meanwhile, two longtime Top 40 residents made their exits this week. “Less Like Me” by Zach Williams left the chart after 29 weeks. It was at No. 20 when we started the chart in January, and it peaked at No. 2 in May. “Amen” by for KING and Country, which also left this week, had also peaked at No. 2 during a 26-week run on the chart.

Crowder’s “Good God Almighty” is descending the chart and fell out of the Top 10 for the first time since February 28. Despite the drop, this week it became the year’s biggest Christian single. It has now been on our chart for 30 weeks and spent six weeks at No. 1.
