Do I need a break? Oh yes. From this.
We all need a break from something — deadlines, laundry, that creeping Tuesday-afternoon dread. But the thing I’m most desperate to escape isn’t exhaustion or overwork. An Update On an Old Fable — (Emperors, Clothes and Misplaced Priorities)…
After one emperor fled in shame, the kingdom hoped for wiser leadership—but found something far more dangerous. The new ruler listened without hearing, spoke without saying anything, and busied himself with appearances while his people went unheard. As trusted voices were ignored and flatterers gained influence, the kingdom did not fall all at once—it slowly faded, as its best and brightest quietly slipped away. Continue reading

Ban “6-7” (And While We’re at It, Let’s Redefine “Poop”)
Slang evolves. I understand that. But when students toss around “6-7” without realizing it traces back to a police code for a reported death, it isn’t edgy—it’s uninformed. Words carry weight. If we’re going to redefine everything because it sounds cool in a lyric or on TikTok, we might as well make “poop” mean delicious and “detention” mean spa day. At least then we’d know we were being ridiculous on purpose. Continue reading →
