Quick Thought – Sunday, September 22, 2024: Dare to Be a Daniel

Read

Daniel 6

Then the king commanded, and Daniel was brought and cast into the den of lions. The king declared to Daniel, “May your God, whom you serve continually, deliver you!”
Daniel 6:16

Reflect

Life isn’t always easy. In fact, sometimes we are thrown into situations where it seems like not even God can save us. Daniel knew something about that.

Daniel was a faithful man of God who prayed from his upstairs room three times a day, looking out his window in Babylon toward Jerusalem. Not even a decree from King Darius demanding worship of only the king himself stopped Daniel from praising the Lord.

A group of the king’s advisers, jealous of Daniel’s closeness to him, caught the prophet praying and turned him in to the king for defying the decree. The king, in order to honor his edict, had no choice but to punish Daniel according to the law. Thus, Daniel was thrown into the lions’ den. The next morning, the king rushed to the den and called down, “Daniel, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to rescue you from the lions?”

Of course, we know that Daniel went unharmed through the entire night in the company of lions. The king was so impressed that he proclaimed throughout the land that his people should serve the living God of Daniel.

God is so faithful to His word and His promises. We find Him when we continually praise Him, talk with Him and depend on Him to rescue us. As we go to God in prayer, we must dare to be a Daniel and depend on the living God for all of our provisions.
