The Pharisees went out and immediately held counsel with the Herodians against him, how to destroy him.
Mark 3:6
Reflect
Diane and Sam had a whirlwind romance and a quick honeymoon. During the trip, Sam had started to get a little testy, but it was when they got home that he really became hard to deal with.
On their first morning in the house, he woke up and barked, “Get up and make me breakfast! One fried egg and one scrambled!”
Diane was startled, but she honestly did want to make her new husband happy. She quickly moved into the kitchen and carefully prepared the two perfect eggs. The fried egg looked good enough for a restaurant, and the scrambled egg was equally picture-perfect. Carefully, she put the two eggs on a plate and proudly presented them to Sam.
He looked at them, scowled and yelled, “You scrambled the wrong egg!”
Some people will never be happy, and there’s nothing you can do about it. It has everything to do with their heart and them deciding to be happy. Jesus encountered this with the Pharisees, who couldn’t even rejoice when a man with a withered hand was physically restored. All they could see is that Jesus impacted their bottom line, and so they even hated Him when He healed people.
We can’t live our lives trying to make such people happy. There is a right way and a wrong way to do things in this life, and our faith compels us to look for the right way every time. When people look down on us for doing right or standing up for our faith, we should actually take that as a compliment, because that means we’re exactly where Jesus would be.
Today, ask the Lord to give you the strength and courage to always choose the right and wise path and to not veer from it regardless of what others may say.
