In my college journalism classes, I often heard my classmates say things like, “I want to be a journalist because I want to tell the truth about what’s going on in the world!” The problem is that their “truth” was often different than my truth, or how other people saw the truth.
Truth is hard to define, which is why it’s such a big deal that Jesus tells us that He is the truth and that freedom is found in Him. Truth can change when we look at it according to our own desires or plans. But Jesus never changes.
Neither do the facts. That was always my problem with those classmates. They dealt in “truth,” and I dealt in facts. I’ve always believed that the facts lead us to the truth. The Bible tells us fact after fact about Jesus that leads us to one inescapable truth: He is who He says He is. He is God’s Son, and the Way, the Truth and the Life. When we place our faith in Him, we find true freedom, both in this life and the next.

This week, as you look at the world and find truth, which is sometimes hard to pinpoint, remember that Jesus never changes. Pray that the Lord will give you the wisdom to know the truth from lies and that He will help keep your feet on the path that leads to freedom.
